Susan is inspired by the color and feel of paint and the texture and life it creates as it hits the canvas. Once a year faithfully for many years she would put together a canvas and play with these colors and textures on the canvas, only to store it in the basement until the urge to create presented itself again.
Encouraged by a talented friend and gallery owner, Susan placed one of her paintings in a group show. That first painting, 'Kaisan' sold shortly thereafter. When the couple who purchased it spoke to Susan and said in essence she captured four years of their life in Japan, Susan was convinced it was time to come out of the basement and share her visions with others.
She is also clearly inspired by Asian art where hints of it can be seen in many of her current works. Her father (as well as her Japanese godmother, Kaisan) infused her life with art and Japanese culture from an early age where Susan would sneak into their tatami room in Brooklyn and paint for hours.
Susan currently resides in East Stroudsburg, PA and is pursuing her degree in Fine Art so she can build her 'creative toolbox.' Her work can be seen in many local galleries and she is also represented by The Art Family Prints gallery in
